Knit Now  |  Issue 96
This issue we’re setting you up for a wonderfully woolly year ahead, with an exclusive pattern book from Rowan as well as a Vintage Knitting calendar from the V&A (Victoria and Albert Museum). I was so thrilled to work with the world-famous V&A, exploring the museum’s incredible archives for our calendar. The archive of fashion photography was the obvious choice for the calendar, especially as the V&A is synonymous with fashion. The calendar features photography by John French, who became one of London’s top fashion photographers in the 1950s and 60s.
Inside your magazine, you’ll find even more inspiration for the year ahead. For this issue’s pattern collection, we’ve worked with Kari-Helene Rane, one of the winners of the Knitter of the Year Awards 2017. She prompted our designers to take their inspiration from the knitting traditions of our islands – from the Ganseys from the channel islands, to Fair Isle and Shetland lace from the North. I love the way that each designer has put their own spin on these traditional techniques. We’re even celebrating island life with our RSPB puffin pattern!
If you’re not ready to get out your needles just yet, why not pour yourself a cuppa and settle in for a good read? We’ve got three fascinating interviews as well as all the usual news, reviews and top tips. This issue’s Ask the Experts page is a sock special, so why not cast off those winter blues and cast on a cosy pair of socks!
Happy knitting,
Kate
