Part 8 Capture light and playful dolphins in an underwater scene using a variety of acrylic techniques and a limited palette, by Elena Parashko
Learning objectives
■ Mix colours using a limited palette
■ How to create an illusion of depth in your underwater scene
■ Capture the effects of sunlight on and in water
The subject of this demonstration is as much about light as it is about dolphins. This month, I conclude my eight-part acrylic painting series by explaining how to paint the underside of surface water, transparent rays of light shining through the ocean, as well as the interesting pattern of reflected light falling on dolphins and the sea floor.
I hope you have enjoyed taking this incremental journey with me from learning how to paint simple abstract marine designs through to this more challenging piece. LP
