KERNEL
Multi-core improvements
Intel engineers have tweaked optimisations for the Linux kernel.
Intel engineers have released very promising patches for the stock Linux 6.2 kernel. For testing purposes, Intel used its Eagle Stream server with two flagship Intel Xeon Platinum 8490H Sapphire Rapids processors. The server was tested using Intel’s ClearOS, which incorporated the kernel patches and a standard server distro of Ubuntu 23.04. Ubuntu’s Linux kernel was left in the dust. It has exciting implications for AMD and Intel CPUs if the patches are incorporated into the kernel.
