Installation and initial setup
A good range of suitable installation options is always welcomed.
T he OBS Studio website recommends installing the software via Flatpak, so we did. Flatpak and Snap are good options for this type of app because it enables you to get the latest version without having to manually upgrade other components, such as codecs. As it’s open source, it tends to be in the repos of most desktop Linux distros, too. When we checked, it seemed to be reasonably up to date in the Ubuntu repo and there’s an official PPA for the absolute latest release.
