Canonical announced in 2021 RISC-V compatibility for Ubuntu, enabling its popular Linux distro to run on the open-source processor architecture. It’s now increased support by announcing an Ubuntu release for the StarFive’s VisionFive board. This single-board computer runs on the JH7100 SoC, which is based on a 64-bit RISC-V dual-core processor that runs at 1GHz, making it one of the more powerful RISC-V boards out there.
