Nightlife in Amsterdam

Amsterdam’s prolifc nightlife makes for wild parties, but at heart the city is still a café (pub) society, embracing old Dutch gin distilleries, charming ‘brown cafés’ and canalside terraces.

CAFÉ BELGIQUE 1

It’s all about Belgian beers at this atmospheric, grungy beer cave. Pull up a stool at the carved wooden bar and pick your brew. Eight fow from the spouts, and 40 or so more are available in bottles. The ambience is quintessentially gezellig (convivial, cosy). There’s live music and DJs some nights (cafe-belgique.nl; Gravenstraat 2; 3pm–1am Mon–Wed, 1pm–1am Thu & Sun, 1pm–3am Fri–Sat).
