BOWING OUT: GEMMA GIBBONS
Having represented Great Britain since 2006, going on to become an Olympic silver medallist with one of the most captivating, dramatic and – quite frankly – moving moments of the London 2012 Olympics, Gemma Gibbons has decided to take her final bow as an athlete.
Though her London success in becoming our first Judoka to secure a spot on the Olympic rostrum since 2000 will be deemed to be her defining moment, Gemma’s work ethic and unwavering determination is what defines her as a person. August 2nd 2012 was her fairy-tale moment; the years of blood, sweat and tears leading up to that moment serve as a stark reminder: there’s no fluke behind her triumph. This is Gemma’s story.
