Air pollution has already been linked to obesity, respiratory diseases, cancer and diabetes, and the University of Maryland School of Medicine has found that it can also affect sperm count. The researchers found that air pollution triggers inflammation in a certain neuron found in the hypothalamus – the region of the brain associated with hunger and sex drive – which leads to a reduced sperm count.
