Joe Kovacs is the new shot put World Athletics Champion after his 22.91m throw in Doha. That’s the equivalent of picking up the heaviest bowling ball at your local ally, then launching it f ve metres beyond the pins at the end. Kovacs has a decent following over on his Instagram (@joekovacsusa) where he recently shared a link to his appearance on The Late Late Show with James Corden. He credits his record throw to his wife who, when he was experiencing hard times, kept repeating the shot put-specif c mantra, “You have to be willing to look like a pud to be a stud.”
