In the last issue of Mobiography Magazine, I wrote about the benefits of the RAW image format and shooting RAW on the iPhone in general. In this second part, I will focus on Apple ProRAW, the new RAW format that Apple introduced for the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max.
At the time of writing, the Apple ProRAW format is only available for iPhone 12 Pro models. But still, if you have an iPhone 12 – without “Pro” – or an older iPhone model, you can still use the classic RAW format, which I cover in part 1 of this series.
The Differences Between the Classic RAW Format and Apple ProRAW
Technically, and compared to the classic RAW format, Apple ProRAW isn’t a true RAW format. In its original sense, RAW means that the image file contains the RAW image data from the sensor without any automatic processing.
