Model Engineer  |  4548
We start a new series this issue; Rodney S. Oldfield’s scaled-up and much modified version of a V4 steam engine, first designed by Bob Middleton from an original concept by Jan Gunnarssson. Rodney provides drawings and instruction and the beauty of this little engine is that it can be adapted and embellished. Harprit Sandhu also gives a step by step instruction on making a mini vice for a QCTP and Chris Walter continues his construction series as he looks at the lubricator on Mariner, the freelance marine engine. George Punter provides further drawings to enable us to make the Saunderson & Mills tractor engine and Chris Gunn continues to describe his 6 inch Garrett tractor, turning his attention to the tender.
We review the Silver and Boronze Medal winners at this year’s MEX and enjoy a day out at a model engineer’s day at Forncett St. Mary.
James Wells muses over the work of Sir Harry Ricardo and his little known work with steam engines and Ron Wright continues with his fascinating explanation of the epicyclic gear train.
