Most of the time, larger scale figures are fairly static. They are at rest or some type of relaxed pose. Jeff Shiu produces a large range of 120mm, 200mm and even 1:6 scale figures.
This kit caught my eye because of the movement – dynamic pose. I am a fan of modelling WWII American GI subjects, so I knew I had to paint this on up. I envisioned the final result being a GI running through the hedgerows in Normandy.
This kit is cast in resin and is made up from 16 parts. Per usual, I clean all the castings and test fit the pieces. Often times, I use small brass rod to pin parts together- just in case. On this figure I had to figure out how to mount he figure to the base. It is important to do this early in the process, because you do not want to drill holes and handle a freshly painted figure later. Brass rod was inserted into both legs- the longer one in the left legthe hole was drilled up to the knee. The other was shorter, because of the lack of space to drill the hole. I like to use two part epoxy for resin and metal figures.
ACC or superglue can be used for small parts. I usually use A&B two part putty for filling gaps and holes.
