Art, science, craft – railway modelling is arguably all of these, but could we do more to celebrate the hobby’s greatest exponents? Back in Model Rail 325, in May 2024, I wrote about the planned dismantling of Egham & Staines MRS’ Canadian ‘HO’ layout, and about the difficulty of disposing of layouts once the owners and builders have passed on. That layout has since been dismantled and I’ve recovered two plastic crates full of everything from figures and trees to structures and road vehicles.
