DESIGN: THE BUYER
FROM LEFT: EMILIANO GRANADO; THE FUTURE PERFECT (3)
ALHADEFF opened The Future Perfect in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, in 2003, turning it into the top showcase for that borough’s burgeoning design scene, which promoted a now ubiquitous brand of rustic-meets-industrial modernism. Six years later, with the store’s move to Great Jones Street in Manhattan’s NoHo neighborhood, came a shift in sensibility, one that is higher end and more avantgarde. Alhadeff has also begun to expand his empire, with stores in San Francisco and Los Angeles—the latter, called Casa Perfect, an appointment-only private residence. In each location, he continues to mentor and showcase new talent, launching the American careers of international and homegrown designers, like Christopher Stuart, featured here.
