Alyssa Milano

PARTING SHOT

ALYSSA MILANO IS NOT A NEWCOMER TO ACTIVISM. WHEN SHE WAS A TEEN, she kissed a 13-year-old boy with AIDS on the cheek to help destigmatize the disease. Her commitment to politics only grew. On Sorry Not Sorry, her new podcast, Milano will discuss polarizing issues, ranging from health care to immigration and racism, with influential figures like #MeToo founder Tarana Burke and presidential candidate Joe Biden. Milano, who hopes listeners are inspired to use their own voices and take action, hasn’t hesitated to take a stand. She refused to participate in the 2019 Women’s March unless the organizers distanced themselves from Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan. Aside from her newly debuted podcast, Milano stars on Netflix’s Insatiable, a series filmed in Georgia, where the anti-abortion “Heartbeat Bill” was passed in March. Charmed alum Milano has been very outspoken about her opposition to the bill, which restricts abortions after a heartbeat is detected very early in a pregnancy, and is using her new platform to bring Hollywood along.
