OutThere  |  #17 The Experientialist Issue
A lot (and little) has happened in the year the Earth stood still. We inch slowly towards holidaying again, but there are still some uncertainties about the future of tourism. While our progress is slow, we're full of hope and optimism for the year ahead; we're confident that we are moving forward, and soon, skyward.
In this issue, we celebrate some of the positive things that have come out of the past twelve months. Our hearts are warmed by the innovation, creativity, resilience and stewardship shown by those who work in luxury travel, despite challenging times. There are so many who went above and beyond, to put the needs of their staff, customers, communities and the environment ahead of their own.
As part of our response to all that was happening, we launched our inaugural Experientialist Awards, to recognise and applaud the luxury brands and people from across our beautiful world that have delivered truly OutThere initiatives, ingenious activities and community-first approaches in their part of the industry. For added feel-good factor, we also showcase the very best in OutThere experiences. We are extremely proud to showcase the winners in this very special issue, their extraordinary stories told through OutThere voices, featuring tales of deep dedication for culture, conservation and communities, of putting people firmly ahead of profits; of boundary-pushing pioneers who are redefining what it means to be global citizens; and of celebrated living: the very best in culture, sophistication and hedonism. You’ll see from these travel tales just how far we’ve come in a year, although most of us didn’t physically go anywhere at all.
