Why did I sign up to this?
It’s a thought that goes through my head every time I’m about to do a swimming race. The nerves kick in about an hour before the race starts. Symptoms include a sense of dread about the forthcoming effort and a heavy feeling of lethargy. My mouth goes dry. Sometimes I feel sick. Unbidden negative thoughts pop into my head: am I coming down with a virus; did I sleep enough; have I done the right training?
