Sometimes getting to the water feels like the biggest challenge
When you’re struggling with your mental health, it can be hard to do the things that bring you joy and sometimes this includes getting to the water and going for a dip. We’re here to tell you that it’s OK and that showing up can be hard, especially if it is for yourself.
If you’re finding everything difficult at the moment, try to take things back to basics and ask yourself: Do I need rest? Do I need to talk to someone? Do I need to review things with my GP? Take a moment to identify what could help you and then reach out for support – you are not alone.
For some, a challenge can give you something to focus on, to look forward to and something that gives you structure. Everyone is different and the most important thing is that you do what’s best for you.
Mental Health Swims is an awardwinning, mental health peer support community. We host free, safe and inclusive swim meet ups nationwide. We welcome anyone along to our swims and we are proud to have more than 150 swim locations in the UK and beyond. Participants can swim, paddle or toe-dip and can do what they are most comfortable with – we are firmly focused on dips, not distance; community, not competition.
