Ella Foote meets Linda Thomas, upcycling dress designer
Linda floating in the Thames

“Think big, make a decision, don’t say you will try, say you will and find out how,” says Linda Thomas, upcycling dress designer. I get goose pimples all over as I speak to Linda. The more eco heroes I meet through this feature, the more I am inspired to continue with my efforts to change and to consider new ways to have a positive impact on our environment. “Once you make a decision to make a change, you don’t question if you can make it work, you ask yourself how you will make it work. Find out how by talking to others and when you work out how to do it, part of your job when you change, in this time of climate crisis, is you then have to pass that information on.”

About Outdoor Swimmer

Our Adventure issue brings you a selection of swimming stories from around the globe to inspire your own adventures, big and small. We start with the biggest adventure of them all – a quadruple English Channel crossing. Sarah Thomas talks to us about her return to marathon swimming after cancer and her goal of becoming the first person to complete that 84-mile four-way English Channel swim. Simon Murie recounts his overland journey to Kazakhstan, swimming with his family along the way. Kate Gillwood travels to the Hebrides for a wild swimming trip. And in our Gear section we select the best kit for your own swimming adventure trip. And as always, we bring you swim tips, training advice, destination and event reports, stunning swim photography and the most comprehensive UK and international event listings to help you plan your swims. Swim wild and free!
