Measuring 60x84mm and weighing 305g, this lens is considerably larger and more than twice as heavy as its RF-S 18-45mm sibling, but is still manageably compact and lightweight. It stretches more than three times further into telephoto territory, with an ‘effective’ zoom range of 28.8-240mm in full-frame terms, whereas the smaller lens only reaches an effective 72mm at the long end. It makes the 18-150mm zoom a better option for walkabout and travel, where you’ll only want to pack and carry a single lens. The lens features 17 optical elements and comes with 4.5-stop optical stabilization, boosted to 7-stop effectiveness in tandem with the EOS R7’s in-body stabilizer. Levels of centre/edge sharpness are on a par with the RF-S 18-45mm. ✪✪✪✪☆
