Invest in an awning
In colder months this is well worth it, even if it’s only a porch awning – somewhere to put muddy boots or shelter while you find your keys, and a hallway separating the possibly wet outdoors from your warm, clean van. Putting up an awning can be a challenge, but if you are staying for a week or more and you have a family and dogs to house, you’ll be glad that you bothered.
Setting up
Your best friend – after a motor mover if you have one (they are pricey) – is a power drill with adaptor. Winding the corner steadies is tedious, but with a power drill, can be done in a trice. You will also need a water container to roll to and from the site tap, and a pump to get the water into the van. A Wastemaster (or similar) deals with grey water – this also has wheels, to transport it to the drain.
