I like to think I know a bit about Genesis, but Phil Collins with a moustache? Now, Phil Collins with robust beard? Yup, seen that. Steve Hackett sporting a Zapata-style ’tache? Tick. Even Peter Gabriel’s own Amish-like facial hair shot at home in Bath in 1974. Yes. But Phil with a moustache? That’s a new one on me. (It’s from The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway European tour in 1975, btw.) All these and more feature in rock royalty photographer Robert Ellis’ new photo book capturing Genesis from 1972’s Great Western Festival in Lincoln all the way through to 1982’s Six Of The Best show at Milton Keynes Bowl (Ellis’ previous Genesis book concentrated on The Lamb… tour alone). While it may not be chronologically comprehensive - Ellis was elsewhere for 1976’s A Trick Of The Tail tour and everything between Wind & Wuthering to that rainy Milton Keynes reunion. But
