ABC
THE LEXICON OF LOVE (NEUTRON, 1982)
Some readers of Prog may well feel that, even for this column,
The Lexicon Of Love
by ABC is stretching things far too far.
And yet, the album has an overture, a loose concept, an ex-member of Yes as producer, a richly designed sleeve, at least one five-and-half-minute track with thundering drums, and an orchestral reprise at its end. Surely that gives it some pretty strong credentials? Surely, it is an example of ‘what prog did next’ as the 80s unfolded.
