The German Olli Zeidler dreamed of swimming at the Olympics, when in late 2017 he made the bold decision to switch sports and give rowing a try. Less than two years later, after a remarkably steep transformation, Zeidler is already a world class single sculler, Lucerne medallist and 2018 world championship finalist. He is also one of the fastest men ever to row 2k on the erg.

Why did you switch from swimming to rowing?

After the Rio Olympics a lot of my teammates and good friends retired from swimming and it just wasn’t fun anymore. I did a few more months then decided to quit too after the German short course championships in November 2017.
