Body-swap movies stand and fall on the performances of the cast and the audience’s ability to believe one psyche is inhabiting another’s physical form. Brandon Cronenberg’s latest goes one further: it’s a body-share horror, as Andrea Riseborough’s corporate agent possesses her marks to commit murder-suicides for high-end clients. Most reminiscent of eXistenz when compared to his father’s work (and sharing a star in Jennifer Jason Leigh), it marks Cronenberg Jr as a talent of his own: it’s gross, nightmarish and hypnotic.
