Ruth Mwandumba is one of the most exciting young talents in British rifle shooting, firing her way to English Championship glory in 2018 before scooping gold, silver and bronze medals at the Commonwealth Shooting Championships held in Northern Ireland.
Ruth is one of the few black shooters in the country as she prepares for an important 18 months that culminates with the Commonwealth Games in January 2022, and she is acutely aware of the lack of diversity in the sport.
“There aren’t many black shooters at all, and when I first started I was the only one on the competition scene,” explained the 24-year-old Liverpudlian. “I’d love for shooting to be a more diverse sport and I want to be the one who inspires black people to get involved.”
