Havoc

This new action flick from Gareth Evans, director of the stupendous The Raid, sees Britain’s best mumbler Tom Hardy playing a veteran detective punching his way through the criminal underworld. If it’s half as exciting as Evans’ previous films, we’re all in for a blistering buffet of bullets, broken bones and bloody carnage. Or, to put it another way, havoc.

France’s most beloved export after Camembert and claret gets a new animated adaptation courtesy of Netflix. Based on one of Goscinny and Uderzo’s original comic books, The Big Fight follows the Romans’ bid to finally conquer our heroes’ indomitable Gaulish village by fixing a prize fight between rival chiefs.

Based on a true story but presented from multiple perspectives, this drama centres on a couple who adopt a young Ukrainian girl with a rare form of dwarfism. Raising her alongside their biological children, they begin to suspect that she may not be who she claims to be – or even a child at all. So is the title ironic or not? It’s complicated…

The Last of Us

Millions of PlayStation owners know exactly what’s coming in this second season of The Last of Us… and we can’t wait to have our hearts ripped out all over again. The first season was spectacular, horrifying and moving, nailing the source material’s essence while expanding on its themes in some genuinely interesting ways. But if The Last of Us is to cement its position as the greatest screen adaptation of a video game ever, it needs to get the trickier, more brutal Part II just right.
