Hegemony is a high-concept political game where players take the role of one of four parts of a nation: the Capitalists, the Middle Class, the Working Class and the State. Each has different goals and scoring conditions. By manipulating labour markets, infrastructure and influencing the political conversation, they compete – and occasionally collude – to serve their own interests.
The early feedback I heard from folks who got to Hegemony before me was qualified enthusiasm, with the ominous caveat that it was possibly ‘more interesting than fun.’ It’s certainly an ambitious idea and once set up the board is a telecom switchboard of tracks and resources. But does it stick the landing?
