Timeless Travels  |  Winter 2016
This Winter Issue is full to bursting with travel to Mexico, Italy, Iran, England, Belgium, The Netherlands, Greece, Montenegro and Iran. Archaeologist Ben Churcher picks his favourite four sites to visit in Iran which is poised to be the 'new' travel destinations in 2017. Joshua J. Mark shares his adventures when visiting the fabulous site of Chichen Itza in Mexico and and we also travel to the beautiful and often overlooked Bay of Kotor in Montenegro and explore what remains of the Ottoman empire in Athens.
The art world is also very busy at the moment and 2017 sees the 100th anniversary of the De Stijl movement - so there is much to see and do in the Netherlands next year. There is also a review of the Artes Mundi International Arts Show by Celia Lyttleton and Garry Shaw visits an exhibition that combines both art and history in Liege, Belgium. Jane Fortune also gives her recommendation of five paintings not to be missed when visiting Italy.
Our Intrepid Traveller is the seventeenth century Evliya Celebi, our interviewee is Elizabeth Wicks, art restorer and the Traveller Tale comes from archaeologist Jamie Fraser in Afghanistan. And of course all the latest news and reviews from the worlds of archaeology and art. So much to read and enjoy!
