Recently I was on the Lady Overlander Radio (@ladyoverlander.radio) Podcast discussing whether women should overland alone. I felt honored to be included with a group of such strong, independent well-traveled women. While the answer is: Of course (with preparation)! Personally, I’m not so sure if I want more alone time. Today, I feel as though I’d much rather take a trip with other perople and friends. Maybe it’s because I live alone and get plenty of alone time, but even so, at the very least, I prefer to have my best friend with me.
Best friends are the top choice to have on any type of adventure. They most likely find the same things fun that you do. They most likely eat the same type of food you do, or at least you already know what they like/dislike. They hopefully listen to the same music you do, so picking the road trip playlist should be easy or settling on a podcast comes quick. Basically, your best friend is usually very similar to yourself, or because you know them so well, they make the perfect travel companion. There should be less arguments, less frustration, and hopefully, you complement each other in the driving and navigation arenas.
