Why do you run?
I started with a Couch to 5K and, six years later, I’m now a group leader, mentor and also a parkrun Run Director. I also run with Blackburn Road Runners; they support slower runners such as myself with as much enthusiasm as the faster and elite runners.
How do you train?
I’m returning from injury so doing slow, short run/walks to increase stamina, speed and confidence. If I’m not training for a race, my runs are purely for fitness and fun so I mix up road running with trail runs. If I have a race planned, I follow a countdown plan. I usually have a finish time in mind but as a slower, older runner it’s more about finishing and hitting some personal goals.
