TRAINING
DOG Answers
QMy cross-breed dog is now 12 years old and during the pandemic he seems to have slowed down considerably. He has had his annual health check and the vet pronounced him perfectly healthy. We enjoy two walks each day, one in the morning and one in the evening, about an hour to an hour-and-a-half of exercise daily. However, he has become very slow, and is obsessed with stopping and sniffing every clump of grass and interesting scent he comes across (he is an entire male). Should I take him back to the vet for another check-up or do I just have to accept that this is a by-product of ageing? Do you have any training tips for helping him to speed up a bit? He’s always trotting along some way behind me.
