Jazz up a plain white lampshade and add a touch of quirky style to your living room by covering it in patterned silk and creating a selection of fabric blooms to make your own design.
1 Begin by cutting strips of fabric to form the fabric roses. For each rose, cut two strips – we cut ours across the full width of the fat quarter (46cm) x 5cm each. Pin the two strips together, with right sides facing, and along one of the long sides, cut a wavy edge.
2 With the strips still pinned together, stitch along the curved edge of each, leaving a 5mm seam allowance. Unpin and turn out. Press, then begin to roll the strip up from one end, wrapping it around itself. Once all of the fabric has been rolled, hand stitch the end in place to hold the shape together.
