Corinne loves the outdoor lifestyle in France
Corinne Krikorian had been nurturing a dream to live in France ever since her first family holiday there as a teenager. ‘I just felt right at home and after many more trips, I became convinced that this was where I wanted to put down roots,’ she explains.
When she met her husband, at the age of 22, it was fortunate he went along with her plans. ‘I told him my idea on our first date, but it was only after our two children were born and he had left his job with the army that my dream became a reality.’ In 2012 the family moved to Languedoc Roussillon in the South of France which Corinne describes as, ‘an exceptional wine growing area with a perfect climate – it can be 20 degrees in winter – stunning countryside, close to the sea and only a two-hour drive from Spain.’ For the first year, they rented a cottage in a little country village but the rural location proved far too quiet and they struggled to make new friends. ‘My French wasn’t great but when we moved to the town of Beziers, where there were more young families, I got a job with a wine producer, and then it began to improve,’ she says.
