Australian Railway History  |  December 2015
The December ARH returns to the ANZAC Centenary with namely Bill Phippen’s detailed research into the NSW railway and tramway men who served in the Gallipoli campaign. He arrives at a figure of 187 men from the NSWGR&T who gave their lives at Gallipoli, while giving details of several of these men.
Ron Webb concludes his account of the operations of the former South Maitland Railways 10 Class 2-8-2T locomotive No. 18 on 3801 Limited’s ‘Cockatoo Run’ during 1998, its final year working on this line. Two short articles on Queensland topics round off the issue, namely Tony Hallam’s short history of C17 Class 4-8-0 locomotive No. 802 now at the Mary Valley Heritage Railway and an update by John Knowles on the Laidley–Mugowie branch line.
