TACKY AND GAUCHE
I couldn’t agree more with Mark Tisshaw about Mercedes design, and I hope this is the start of a backlash that will see change.
Mercedes has lost its mojo. The GLC EQ just doesn’t work. The rear lighting looks like an Alfa Romeo Mito circa 2013. The stars in the light clusters, which started with that disappointing blob of an E-Class, are just tacky. I was very disappointed to see them show up in the S-Class prototypes. The grille on this new GLC doesn’t work well when viewed off-centre and is only tolerable head-on. The EQ design language is a flop. The rear of the EQS lacks character.
All the interiors, from a design perspective, are gauche and a touch Koreany. They also flop on quality.
I see only the C-Class as a success.

BMW BESTS BENZ
The Mercedes-Benz GLC EQ is a hideous concoction of styles and LED tat on a previous-generation side profile. Those round rear lights that look different on the outside to the inside somehow (with Mitsubishi logos inside!), that 1990s Audi grille out front with a truck division-sized Mercedes logo in the middle (lit up no less) and two more Mitsubishi logos in the headlights…
