Evans leads standings with four rallies left after second place in Paraguay
The second part of the World Rally Championship’s South American double-header will play out in Chile this weekend, in what has evolved into an all-time classic season.
Following Rally del Paraguay at the end of August, Britain’s Elfyn Evans still just about leads the way, but team-mate Sébastien Ogier is coming hard for him. The great Frenchman scored what should rank among the finest of his 65 WRC wins in Paraguay and is now just nine points behind Evans and two points behind Kalle Rovanperä. Behind the Toyota trio, Hyundai’s Ott Tänak is hanging in there, just 18 points off Evans’ lead, making it a four-way fight with four rounds to go.
