LETTER OF THE WEEK
Fill your boots
I know that Volvo is now bringing its estates back to the UK, but in his letter referring to their withdrawal (26 June), I don’t understand why Christopher Cassidy could “not see any other way” than a BMW Touring.
The Audi A6 Avant seems to be the default posh estate around where I live, and there’s also the Skoda Superb Estate. A friend of mine has an older-model Superb and it never ceases to impress me, particularly for the quality of its ride. As well as the Mercedes-Benz C-Class and E-Class Estates, there’s the Volkswagen Passat Estate. After a few years of driving a 3 Series Touring, I’ve since had two Passats. I prefer the Passat in virtually every way to the BMW, as it has a broader range of talents, making it an easier car to live with.

ADAS and ADHD
I currently read with dread the growing number of stories about driver intervention systems. The Lexus LBX tells its driver to “sit up straight” (Our Cars, 26 June). What are we becoming?
