TESTER’S NOTES
Project Tornado: There won’t be any original 911s left at this rate
Y es, another week, another Porsche 911 that’s not as you knew it. Last week, a Ruf 3.4 RSR review crossed these pages, I recently drove a 993 tweaked by Paul Stephens and there’s news this week of a Singer that looks like a 930 Turbo with a cabriolet roof – less up my Straße than a coupé but still cool.
So to the car pictured above. It’s by Gunther Werks, whose 993 Speedster I drove in April. It focuses on widening the front track, cutting some weight and moving other weight forwards to make the handling less traditional 911 (light nose, wayward tail) but still exhilarating and more mid-engined in character. To good effect. I liked it a lot.
