Toyota’s Evans could become the first British WRC champion since 2001
Advantage Elfyn Evans: the Welshman is back at the head of the World Rally Championship with just two rounds to go, following a dramatic hard-surface Central European Rally in October.
Evans has a 13-point buffer over fellow Toyota aces Kalle Rovanperä and Sébastien Ogier and on the face of it has a golden chance to finally claim his first world title. But there are still a heap of stage miles to complete, on Rally Japan on 6-9November and the Saudi Arabian finale at the end of the month, and you wouldn’t bet against either Rovanperä or Ogier overturning that deficit. Twists and turns surely await.
