ROAD TO RUIN
I am currently facing a dilemma, as I am pretty much being compelled to change my vehicle. I have had the car for many years and it has suited me perfectly. Good performance, equivalent to Bond’s Aston Martin DB5, and excellent handling, due to lowered, stiffened suspension and low-profile tyres. A super Porsche, Audi, BMW etc? Nope, it is a Skoda Fabia vRS. However, it cannot cope with A-roads in my county.
Recently I have suffered broken suspension, damaged steering and a blown tyre, all on A-roads, not on side streets. Driving at night and/or in heavy rain is out of the question. Therefore I am facing the prospect of buying something that I do not want, merely to go out unrestricted.
No doubt it will have to be 17 feet long by seven feet wide and weigh three tons, with wheels that would grace an airliner. But, looking on the bright side, I no doubt will be saving the planet.
