It’s funny to still be cogitating about the season-ending grand prix in my final column of the year; it shows how very long the Formula 1 season has become. Apart from Lando Norris’s heartwarming championship win and Max Verstappen’s iron-man run, a highlight for me was watching the reaction of commentator and former F1 star David Coulthard to being driven hard on track by Verstappen in a Ford Mustang Dark Horse. He looked downright scared, as if he were about to jettison his breakfast. I found that reassuring. I have trouble with sustained fast laps as a passenger in something really quick these days, because of the heavy cornering and braking loads. It was interesting to see a winner of 13 grands prix feeling the same.
