Hello Baking Heaven friends and welcome to our April issue, which is a very special one indeed, all about CAKE! Now we’re getting into April, things are feeling much more positive and hopeful, so we need cake to celebrate!
To start off, I’ve given you my fabulous Fault Line cake recipe, which you’ll find in your digital issue or online at www. foodheavenmag.com. Fault Line cakes have been around for a while now, but they are a trend that is here to stay, I’m sure. They are so eye-catching and really can be tailored to suit any theme. They look tricky, but as long as you give yourself plenty of chilling time, they really are not as hard as people might think. I am hoping to make one of these on This Morning soon… I did a lovely version in a Geode Crystal style for Holly’s 40th birthday recently, she loved it!
For my next recipe, how about trying a cookie cake? I love them because you can easily personalise with any name or number for a celebration by simply printing off a letter or number to use as a template to cut around. Once stacked up and sandwiched with delicious frosting, they look fantastic - a biscuit layer cake. This one is from my Botanical Baking book, so I’ve used some edible flowers on top, but the brilliant thing about these is that you can customise with all sorts of décor from chocolates, sweets or mini bakes. I hope you’ll give it a go!
