PROJECT OF THE MONTH
Timber infill home
by Ao-ft
Constructed from cross-laminated timber (CLT), this new build home on an infill site in East London replaces an existing 1960s property that was in a poor and unsalvageable structural condition. Demolishing and rebuilding was thus the most effective solution. So, with sustainable construction at the heart of the project, the architects set out to design a stylish replacement house. They chose CLT panels because it enabled them to sequester (store) 37 tonnes of CO2, enhancing the build’s eco credentials. The house shell was assembled in just five days.
