Welcome
If soundbite specialists and the mainstream press are to be believed, we’re a nation of NIMBYs (not in my back yard-ers). In other words, while many of us pay lipservice to the idea of more housing, and perhaps genuinely believe it’s needed, there’s always one place it can’t go: anywhere near where we live. The moniker gets dragged out every time there’s a debate about the state of UK housebuilding, or a new minister who can’t quite drum up the support they need to ratify their latest changes to planning legislation. We tried valliantly, you’ll hear them say, but we can’t beat the scourge of NIMBYism. Sorry!
