Why did you want to enter the National Custom and Self Build Association’s (NaCSBA) competition?
We’ve supported community-focussed self build projects for years, aiming to facilitate the creation of more affordable consumerled housing. We helped set up the Bristol Community Land Trust, and the Shoestring contest fed into our Snug Homes project – a prototype we’d been developing anyway. We worked with Barton Willmore Planning Consultants (BWPC) to finalise the winning design. We thought it’d be a great way to put the concept out there.
What’s special about the winning design and how does the construction method work?
