When Robert and Rachael Fielding set out on the renovation of a tumbledown prefab bungalow to transform it into a rural holiday home perfect for relaxing and walking the dogs, it quickly turned into a full scale knock down and self build adventure. “The renovation was a bigger project than I first envisioned, but we thought its position inside Dartmoor National Park would mean that getting planning permission to replace the bungalow would be difficult,” says Robert. “But when I put in a call, the planners said self building would enhance the area and encouraged us to come back with a planning application.”
