Calls for major planning reform
The Centre for Policy Studies is calling for future planning reform to focus on delivery and prioritising the role of small builders in solving the housing crisis. The group’s latest report highlights that the UK’s six biggest developers are sitting on a land back that’s equivalent to 1 million plots, thereby blocking progress in creating enough homes to meet demand. Build It would argue that offering more land to self and custom builders should become part of that solution, encouraging higher quality, genuinely deliverable homes.
