Lessons to be learned from the Green Homes Grant
The now withdrawn Green Homes Grant Scheme (GHGS) fell far short of the government’s goal to stimulate energy efficient improvements in over 650,000 homes. Offering homeowners and landlords vouchers to commission certain domestic energy efficient improvements, the core intentions of the scheme were correct – the UK’s housing stock contains 28 million leaky and energy inefficient homes in desperate need of retrofitting, 85% of which will still be in use in 2050.
