Literary high spots of a Bonhams (25/10/12% buyer’s premium) sale of November 27 included a three-volume, 1813 first of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice (left).
Lacking the half-titles to Vol.III, showing some foxing, staining, a few tears and some slightly loose stitching, it was estimated at £15,000-20,000 in its contemporary bindings of red half roan but almost doubled the high estimate to sell at £38,000.
